I've been waterskiing
(slalom, trick & barefoot) for over 20 years and I've never found any
related segment to be as much fun as hydrofoiling. When people question
the high price I paid for my Sky Ski, I simply ask how much their boat
cost them and how much use they get from it when the water gets shitty.
My boat got more use this year with the Sky Ski than the previous four
or five years combined of waterskiing. I don't even care if I ever waterski
again. You can ride twice as long with half the effort and the airtime
can't be compared to anything short of ramp jumping.
I'll get the check
in the mail ASAP to cover the new ankle straps. Maybe I'll cough up
the hair ball and try for the invert again.
Merry Christmas!

Hello out there!
My name is Howard
(now known as howAIRd). My wife Susan and I are new to Hydrofoiling.
Last month while on vacation at Havasu, we went to see Mike Mack on
the Parker strip, and along with my brother Jeff, took lessons on his
Air Chair. We were hooked. Since then, we rented a new SKY SKI, found
it to be much easier, stable, and controllable (at least for us newbies)
to ride. We are now the proud owners of a new '99 SKY SKI and love it!
I am a 17 year old in a 61 year old body. I learned to water ski on
the Parker strip in 1957 and have been skiing and boating all up and
down the Colorado river for 42 years now. Over all those years, nothing
compares with the thrill of flying on our SKI SKY. Even though I am
still trying to consistently cross wakes, maintain even height etc,
etc ,etc, I love every minute of it. Been out 5 times now and have seen
real progress each time.
Gotta go, howAIRd
and Susan
Thanks
for all of your help with the recent trade in of my Air Chair for the
new Sky Ski. I was at my limit with constantly trying to file or sand
the "chair" to get just the right ride. The other option was to pay
some big bucks for a tune job but then I would be tied in for future
tune ups down the road.
I like the idea of buying a product off
the shelf and having it deliver as promised, right out of the box. I
found the assembly simple, only taking 30 minutes or so and all the
parts fit as shown with no tweaking needed. The fit and finish of my
new Ski is excellent, in fact instead of storing it in the shed it stays
inside the house as a show piece.
The ride is Great! Very stable and predictable
without any surprises. The reduced drag of the Ski shows the R & D that
you put into the product realy paid off. There is no humming or vibrations
that were common to my Chair. Also no dips or dives that I constantly
put up with before.
The new Cinch Strap is excellent also.
Having rode kneeboards for the last 7 years I really appreciate the
ability of being able to cinch up and lock in.
I am looking forward to introducing others
on my lake to the Sky Ski and will send them your way when they are
looking to buy.

Dear Jon,
I've enclosed a check to cover the balance
for the Sky Ski. I would like to thank you for your part in fulfilling
the delivery of the Sky Ski as soon as you did. I realize that there
is a huge demand for it and after riding it I now know why. The Sky
Ski is awesome with the appearance and rideability. Your "signature
series" tuning skill truly performs in flight. In my mind, Sky
Ski is the pioneer and leader of high performance hydrofoils.
Thanks again,
Warren

Thank you so much for caring more about the rider
than corporate profits. The time and energy that you put into
collecting information and transforming rider's suggestions into the
great new flying machine dubbed "skyski" were well worth the
effort. In the past, it was frustrating having to spend countless hours
tuning a foil up to a "pro-ride" only to have it bend or break
after a ride or two. It is a real pleasure riding on a design
that is tuned for flight right out of the box.

Got
my new Shock Tower equipped Sky Ski out on the water last night for
the first time. WOW, what a freaky ride! When I jump, it unloads & actually
KICKS you up a bit more! The first jump, I landed on my back. The second
jump, I barely even put anything it it & Andy said there was like 4
feet under the foil. I had one wake jump where I nosed it straight in
like Vescely's infamous big air roll. I don't know when the last time
I've done that was! I over rotated my first gainer, went HUGE on my
first backroll & then proceeded to have a pretty descent run. Some things
I noticed, ever seen those gainers where the foil just slices thru the
water & the deck never even touches the water on the landing? I have
probably done maybe 10 of those in the 2 years I've been able to land
a gainer. Well last night I landed at least two of those. It's like
the seat absorbs the impact & the foil regains lift easier somehow.
The backrolls, big or small, it absorbs the landings & makes'em ridiculously
easy. I'm not saying the trick is any easier with it, but the landings
are CAKE! I had a pretty good size wake jump landing where the deck
didn't touch the water at all. Again, somehow the landing is absorbed
& allows the foil to regain lift sooner than with a rigid seat. I can
see where the wake jump to skidder would be easier with this thing.
The quality of the foil itself is one of the best I've seen to date.
Jake & Jon, whatever your doing with the foundry people, it's working.
Almost no pits or perosity at all. And a great finish. And for any other
Shock Tower users, I'm 200 lbs., had the shock pumped up to 275 lbs.,
& the shock never compressed more than about 2/3rds of the travel (a
bit over an inch). I must be in the ball park, huh. So if your considering
buying one, I give it two thumbs way up.
Thanks for the
idea Airborne! -- Bill Kinnison
P.S.: Alright, we
all know I'm biased. So go ride it yourself. I guarantee you'll be liking
it inside of 1/2 hour on it.
